Certified Nurse Practitioner for Dr. Matthew Melander
Specializing in general orthopedics, sports medicine, and surgery, Holly has extensive orthopedic operating room experience as a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) and treats patients aged 13 through geriatrics. With a sports medicine emphasis in the operating room, she specializes in arthroscopic shoulder procedures, ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) treatments, proximal hamstring conditions, arthroscopy of the hip with labral repair, and soft-tissue and tendon repairs.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University and then went on to earn her master’s degree in nursing at Maryville University. Holly is a certified registered nurse who has over 23 years of experience in orthopedic surgery. She is very active in patient care and is adamant in providing patient-tailored care, specific to helping each unique individual in achieving the optimal outcome, whether it be surgical or nonsurgical.
Holly is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Missouri Nurses Association (MONA), the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON). She is also a Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI) Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant and Certified Perioperative Nurse.
She enjoys competing in half marathons as well as HIIT training, yoga, and weight lifting. She is the mother of two teenage sons, one is at Fort Zumwalt West High School and is active in high school sports, and her other son attends Southeast Missouri State University. She is married to Matt, an avid golfer, and has two dogs, Maggie (Yorkie) and Brody (Olde English Bulldogge).
