Optimal Weight & Nutrition

Advanced Bone & Joint

Weight and BMI (body mass index) are significant contributing factors in the overall success or lack of success in most joint surgeries. Instead of advising you to “lose weight” and return for your joint replacement at a later date, Advanced Bone & Joint is willing to participate in assisting you to not only lose unnecessary weight, but to maintain a healthy weight for many years to come.

This program is now outside of ABJ, and will address your individual needs for weight loss, balanced nutrition, and appropriate activity levels necessary to maintain overall health, including joint health. You will work one-on-one with Delia, the weight loss coach, who will support you every step of the way. The end goal is to improve your overall wellness by losing excess weight and making healthy choices, so that you can live your life to the fullest.

You can find details about the program by phone @ 636.317.1350 or by email @ delia@thewellnesspursuit365.com.

Why does my surgeon care about my weight?

Your surgeon may tell you that you are not in the right shape for surgery. While that may seem shocking, studies have proven that maintaining a healthy weight has a positive impact on your joints.  Less weight on your joints means less wear and tear and a lower risk of injury.

If you are facing joint surgery, you may be able to avoid or postpone surgery just by losing weight. And, if surgery is inevitable, your recovery will go much better if you are healthy and have a BMI (body mass index) less than 30.

Advanced Bone & Joint is one of only a few orthopedic practices in the country to offer a weight loss program. Rather than telling you to come back when you drop the excess weight, we’ll set you up with a personal weight loss coach to guide you to success. Losing weight is hard, and we want to help you.
