PRP and Pain Management

by Yenny (SU)
Platelet-Rich Plasma, or PRP, is an advanced biological product created from your very own blood. In a nutshell, PRP is an extremely concentrated serum of blood components with a larger than usual ratio of platelets, human growth factors, stem cells, and other healing factors that can help reduce and manage pain. Normal blood concentrations, for example, are made up of roughly 93% red blood cells, with white cells taking up another 6% or so. The remaining 1% is composed of plasma and platelets. Platelets, which are rich in natural healing components such as stem cells, and other connective and tissue growth factors. When concentrated, the PRP ratio is around 94% platelets and 6% of the others, completely reversing the normal ratios, increasing the effectiveness dramatically. PRP and pain management work hand in glove to reduce inflammation (one of the leading causes of pain) and speed healing to targeted areas of the body.
