Dr. John McAllister joined Advanced Bone & Joint in 1989. Prior to becoming part of the practice, he received his medical degree from Washington University's School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. He received his American Board of Orthopedic Surgery certification in 1991 and has since been recertified twice.

Dr. McAllister is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, Arthroscopy Association of North America, St. Charles/Lincoln County Medical Society, and Missouri State Medical Association. He is currently affiliated with Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West HealthCare Center. He also is a partial owner in NovaMed Surgery Center of St. Peters.

Published in various articles and as an active participant in a variety of research studies, Dr. McAllister also serves as a consultant to DonJoy and Salient Surgical Technologies.

Dr. McAllister has been involved with various committees, serving as chief of surgery (2007-2008), chief of staff-elect (2009-2010), and he is the current chief of staff (2011) at Progress West Hospital. He was also the previous chief of staff at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and medical director at NovaMed Surgery Center of St. Peters. Dr. McAllister is currently the president of Advanced Bone & Joint.
